TRASH PRINCESSES - A GATA x PRAYING Editorial
GATA recently had the pleasure of teaming up with the sardonic darlings of the fashion industry Praying [@praying], to deliver a delicious slice of trailer trash pie.
Serving up our own interpretation of the trashy trailer park home, the editorial takes inspiration from the eccentric and bubbly fashion stylings of the 90s street bible Fruits magazine [@fruitsmag].
Created by Alex Haddad and Skylar Newman in 2020, Praying [@praying] has been making a name for itself in the past few years, with its innocent callbacks to early Y2K culture, screen printing images of “Brangelina” and “Bedward” from Twilight, while fusing them with a “crop top” sexiness that demands attention. Their online marketing strategy has been right on the money, blending elements of retro lo-fi GeoCities fan sites, with an ironic edge that has pulled in an extensive range of celebrity fans such as Rosalía, Megan Thee Stallion and Olivia Rodrigo.
The editorial features exclusive items from their latest collaboration—this time with iconic Japanese fashion magazine Fruits [@fruitsmag]—with tops and shoulder bags, decorated with the instantly recognisable magazine logo.
