“Kanji Room” is a collaborative project between the creative couple from Tokyo, Solène Ballesta, a French photographer and Lin Zhengqi, an artist and calligrapher from China.
For this project, the couple's atelier is transformed into a giant sheet of paper that Lin fills with poetry, current news and literary quotes. All this mixed to evoke the disorder that is our contemporary world, the overload of information we receive and the claustrophobic, overwhelming feeling we can have in these turbulent times.
To enhance this human aspect, model and artist Elena Midori steps in front of the camera to help express these torn feelings.
Solène took care of the overall art direction and styling, capturing the room through video and photographs, as the emotions became more and more intense until saturation.
