GATA PRESENTS AN EDITORIAL BY JASON RENAUD: BODY AND FORM
Photographer Jason Renaud explores the intersection of movement and art with a bewitching editorial starring contemporary dancer Sorrel Dawn
With recent performances from FKA Twigs at Valentino’s SS 24 show as well as the beautifully choreographed walks of Margiela’s latest artisanal collection, the fusion of fashion and dance is clearly on the rise. Movement as a form of artistic expression, accentuating the visuals and giving physical form to abstract ideas, is a trend within the creative field that we continue to see an increase in.
“Body and Form” is the latest editorial to pass through the doors of GATA; a stunning series of experimental imagery that fully captures the relationship between a dancer’s movement and their creative expression. Utilising a visual language, reminiscent of 19th century Eadweard Muybridge and his studies on objects in motion, the images stunningly play with the form of its subject—contemporary dancer Sorrel Dawn—multiplying her to emphasise themes of multiplicity, introspection and improvised movement.
