FUTURE FLESH - GATA MEETS PARMA HAM

From London’s underground to posthuman fashion, Parma Ham is reshaping what it means to wear art. Sculptor, performer, DJ, and rave instigator, their world lives somewhere between ritual, nightlife, and extreme self-expression.
We sat down with Parma to talk Tokyo nights, future bodies, and why pushing limits is part of the process. Photographed by our friend Idan Barazani. GATA meets Parma Ham.
GATA: Hey Parma, can you shortly introduce yourself to the GATA family
PARMA: I make silicone sculptures, and sometimes perform, my work is a mix of the posthuman and the esoteric. I run a performance heavy rave in London called Wraith, and I also DJ. I first met GATA during my Asia tour in August. I’m known for extreme style. I’m also a museum producer for Serpentine, an amazing contemporary art gallery in london, that stable hustle allows me to work as an artist.
GATA: Whats bringing you joy lately?
PARMA: 2025 was about treasuring the journey, going on side quests, meeting people, helping friends, and working on my body; this sort of mindfulness breeds a state of contentment and happiness which I needed. 2026 my eye will be more on the future.
GATA: What’s your relationship to Japan?
PARMA: I love visiting Japan! This year I played at Traffic, Loft, and Spotify. This recent trip was to participate in Tokyo Art Week, play at the Blood Flowers goth festival that Nao Yamada produced, and also work with my friends Fecal Matter for their show at Dover Street Market Ginza.
GATA: Top 3 spots in tokyo?
PARMA: I love staying in Kabukicho - it’s noisy and lawless which is strangely comforting. There’s a rumour if you go to the Guinea Pig bar and submerge your dick into a drink, the barman will drink it and offer you a shot for your troubles. Of course I never tried it ;) for Butoh the amazing Dairakudakan Studio Kochuten puts on gorgeous and intimate shows.
GATA: If the world would end someday this week, what are the things that you would do to say goodbye?
PARMA: Hedonism - eat all the junk food that I don’t usually allow myself, try the hardest drugs for that ultimate high, and experiment with the fetishes that i haven’t gotten round to doing yet. But all in a look.
GATA: If you would have to customise your own video game avatar, what would it be?
PARMA: I grew up with consoles, and video game villains have definitely inspired my style. I recently collaborated on a project with an artist called Zephine where I turned myself into a cyberpunk game character. We went for bionic tentacles that can stimulate the body for the best full body orgasm ever. I love game characters with hugely impractical sexy designs that are battle ready.
GATA: You want to give us a bit of a spoiler? Tease something? What’s the next move?
PARMA: Last year I had an installation of mixed silicone works at Dover Street Market New York, and all the wearable pieces sold on the first day to some pretty major celebrities. So I’ve been working on some outrageous wearable stuff to present as part of a performance in 2026.
