GATA is proud to present an anti-sexy yet kink-inspired editorial that showcases all the best moments of sploshing culture, and the beautiful and humourous moments that lie behind the sexual nature of fetishism. Featuring a neon explosion of energy, cakes being smashed into faces and cute pastel-coloured styling, “YUK” is a visceral experience that captures the essence of the characters behind the fetish scene and puts the fun back into fashion photography.

The brain-child of a group of creatives in London, “YUK” is a strong embodiment of the creativity that is being nurtured in the UK right now. Inspired by WAM videos online (wet and messy fetishes), “YUK” looks to create a series of caricatures based on the sexual nature of the scene. Rather than focus entirely on overt sexuality and create another exhibitionist showreel of people trying to be sexy, the creators zoned in on the funny side of this sexual moment, one that is often overlooked.

“I have never in my life seen someone in a gimp mask and not found it funny. Same with Sploshing videos, It’s just surreal, and cute and funny and it’s almost perfect in itself.

With ‘Yuk’ we wanted just to make caricatures of these videos. I tried to cut all the overt sexuality in them and focus on the textural information and humour that is often not the focus. The Opia Girls are perfect muses and alongside our ‘Gimp’ Kim, we were able to have a lot of fun and capture some really lovely moments. We wanted to show that the beauty in this imagery comes from the humour and characters within them, often not the sexual moments. I am so bored of people trying to be sexy and I doubt I will ever be tired of someone having a cake smashed into their face.”
